On Wednesday 19 May, Tim Henman visited Ackworth School in Pontefract to celebrate the successful Tim Henman Foundation Community Tennis Programme which has been running for the last two years and to officially launch the #FindingYourSpark campaign

The event was a triumph, with over 90 pupils from six primary schools able to enjoy a (mostly) sunny afternoon on Ackworth’s tennis courts learning from expert coach Alice Robson, who was named Development Coach of the Year at last year’s LTA Tennis Awards.

The Community Tennis Programme funded by the Tim Henman Foundation and Ackworth School, in partnership with the LTA has enabled local coach Alice Robson to introduce tennis to nearly 2,000 pupils at 28 local primary schools, as well as to generate hundreds of new members to Ackworth Tennis Club.    

The event also celebrated the launch of the #FindingYourSpark campaign – which is designed to help inspire many of the country’s most vulnerable young people or young people suffering from post lockdown anxiety to find that one thing with ignites a passions and helps raise aspirations. 

Spreading inspirational experiences and giving more children the chance to find their spark is our way of helping with the growing mental health challenges many young people face.
