“Through these STEM based workshops students and teachers at Raynes Park High School, as well as 15 teachers from Merton Primary Schools, have been inspired to develop their interest in science and engineering. The new resources and the teacher training create a sustainable impact as a result of the wonderful influence of The Tim Henman Foundation.”
Kirsten Heard Headteacher Raynes Park High School
Students and Teachers from Raynes Park High School have been given the chance to participate in a number of new initiatives to inspire interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Interactive Student Workshops introduced the students to a Straw Glider Challenge.
Students explored concepts such as aerodynamics and forces whilst constructing a straw glider and competed with each other for the longest straw glider flight. Other curriculum topics covered included measurement and centre of balance.
Teacher Workshops were hosted by Raynes Park High School for 15 Primary School STEM teachers who will benefit in their own schools from new resources for 12 lessons.
